Sam has been part of the Bay Area Blues scene for many years as a leader of his own Band. He has also work intensively as a sideman for Harpists Gary Smith and Andy Just, B3 organist Duke Jethro and singer Sista Monica. Sam has played major Blues, Jazz, and R&B festivals throughout the US, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. His bands gigs locally around the San Francisco Bay area and consists of veteran San Jose based players. He can heard on Gary Smith’s “Up The Line” CD and various Sista Monica recordings including her latest CD “Live In Europe”.

Hear the new tone files with Alan Hightman!
Early in his career Alan was invited to play several gigs with Otis Spann, one of the blues piano greats of all time. Soon afterward he became a member of Sam’s Southside Chicago Blues Band. Along with Sunnyland Slim, Alan continued and with the band and recorded throughout the early 70s. His blues worked evolved to great jazz chops while playing in Canada, the Florida Gulf Coast and San Francisco in 80s and 90s. Alan can be seen locally around numerous Bay Area jazz haunts, festivals, and fine dinning establishments.
